Airsoft will turn your kit into scrap if you let it. BBs, branches, brick dust and the occasional face-on dive into a hedge all hit the same weak spot — the lens on your thermal or action camera. A solid lens protector is the cheapest insurance you can buy for kit that costs hundreds.
We make lens protectors for the cameras that UK skirmishers actually run: the Nightfox Arctic thermal camera and Runcam action cameras. Both are designed and manufactured in our UK workshop, both use the same field-tested mesh we'd put on our own goggles, and both fit without tools, gaffer tape, or prayers.
How we test our protectors
We don't rate our mesh on vibes. The lens protectors you see here were tested in-house against 0.48g BBs at 315.9fps (around 2.23J) at 5cm range. That's an extreme case — it deformed the mesh, because of course it did, but the lens behind it stayed intact. Your normal skirmish hit sits well below that energy, which is the point: the protector takes the punishment so your lens doesn't.
We run the same mesh across our lens protector range and in our own goggles. If it doesn't survive our field tests, it doesn't ship.
FAQ
What does an airsoft lens protector actually do?
It takes the hit instead of your camera lens. BBs, grit, branch strikes and rough contact that would pit or crack your Nightfox or Runcam lens get absorbed by the mesh first. The protector is the sacrificial layer — replace the protector, keep the camera.
Will a lens protector affect my Nightfox Arctic image quality?
Not in normal use. The mesh is sized so airsoft BBs stop but thermal IR passes through unaffected. You won't see a meaningful drop in detection range or clarity through the protector's field of view.
Slightly at very close range under strong backlight, but in normal skirmish lighting there's no visible degradation. The Runcam protector is fitted clear of the lens surface so it doesn't sit in the optical path.
Yes. The protector slides on from the front and is held in place by the camera's existing bezel. You don't need to unmount, unscrew, or remount the camera to fit or remove it.
Yes. Every Tactical Armory lens protector is designed and manufactured in the UK. We don't outsource, we don't white-label, we don't rebadge imports. The mesh is cut, formed and assembled in our workshop.
